The Karen Battle Memorial Educator Grant
The mission of Gifted Support Network is to provide information, connection and enrichment to educators and families of gifted and high-ability children.
The Karen Battle Memorial Educator Grant was created to provide educators with money to provide enrichment to high-ability students. The grant is open to all educators in the St. Louis Metro area who work with gifted or high-ability students (and is not limited to only educators in gifted education programs). Since its inception in 2017, Gifted Support Network has awarded almost $4,000 to area educators.
Educators may submit a grant proposal for items such as:
- Curriculum
- Classroom materials or supplies
- Professional development
- Field trips
- Other outside-the-box, creative ideas you have!
The Educator Grant Application process opens in December of each year and closes at the end of January. Decisions are generally made by March 1st.
The Educator Grant Application is now closed. Please check back in November for more information on next year's grant application.
*Educator Grants are funded solely by donations. If you would like to contribute to help make these grants possible in the future for our educators, you can click HERE.

About the Educator Grant
Karen Battle worked proudly as a J.E.T. Gifted Education teacher in the Fort Zumwalt School District. She was an educator for 15 years and won "Teacher of the Year" three times. She was also nominated for the Disney American Teacher Award. Karen lost her battle with cancer in 2017 and will be missed by many students, staff, friends and family members. Gifted Support Network hopes to honor her memory and service to the gifted community with the educator grants we award annually.
