What does "gifted" really mean?

Children are 'gifted' when their cognitive and reasoning ability is significantly above the norm for their age, and those abilities may manifest in one or more areas: intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership, or in a specific academic field such as language arts, mathematics or science.

At Gifted Support Network, we know that being the parent or educator of a gifted child can be exciting, but it can also have its challenges.  Contrary to what many people believe, these high achievers will not always continue to be rising stars if left on their own.  They may possess some amazing academic strengths, but may also need help in other areas.

  • Offer high-quality resources, tools, and information for families and educators
  • Help parents of gifted kids make valuable connections with other parents

Parent Support Groups

​Lessons Learned About Online Education for Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Students
Since March of 2020, students have participated in online school, in-person school, and everything in between. What works (and what doesn't) for gifted and twice-exceptional kids? Now that virtual school has become more common, are there times that some families should consider utilizing online school options? This panel discussion will feature both educators and parents who can talk about their experiences and how we can understand benefits and drawbacks to different educational environments for our bright children.
